Brent's Birthday Celebration Giveaway!!!
Not to long ago, as I was perusing some new blogs, I came across a story that BLESSED my socks off. I was blessed in learning about a very special little man, Brent. Brent was diagnosed at the age of 9 with Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system. He fought long and hard and with SO MUCH GRACE for his "earthly healing", never once doubting GOD's Love and always taking the time to PRAISE HIM. He touched so many lives with his kindness, with his spirit and with his unwaviering faith. Brent received his "Heavenly Healing" on January 2, 2007, at the young age of 11.

His family kept a website to keep family and friends abreast of his progress and to their prayer requests. In reading it, you can see a boy who found so much joy in the littlest things. A boy who loved his Mom and Dad and brothers with all of his heart. A boy who found happiness in making others happy. A boy who put others before himself. A boy who knew what it meant to LOVE Jesus with everything he Had. A boy who was wise beyond his years. A boy who can teach us all something about how to LOVE.
Brent would have turned 13 this October 28th, and his beautiful Mom (don't even get me started on this amazing soul) is doing a giveaway in his honor over at Safe in His Arms. She chose to honor him this way because Brent was most happy when he was giving to others. Here are a few excerpts from her blog that will give you a little glimpse into his heart…
"If any of you knew Brent personally, you already knew that he found GREAT JOY in giving gifts! A perfect example would be his "Make-A-Wish" shopping trip. (That's what he chose for his wish) Of all the MANY things he might have bought for himself, he MADE CERTAIN that some of the things he bought, he bought in THREES! (One for himself and one for each of his brothers)
Brent LOVED to pamper his nurses (and sometimes doctors) too. If we were eating at his favorite Mexican restaurant, he'd ask to bring his nurses chips & salsa. If we were in Walmart (and he was about to go "in-patient" for chemo) he'd want to buy the nurses donuts. For Christmas one year, we made most everyone at St. Jude candy apples. "
So I thought it would be cool to celebrate his life with a giveaway over here as well. Part of the prize will be a donation to St. Jude's in the winner's name because Brent loved this place and felt at home there. They are an amazing organization, helping families like Brent's everyday. There will also be another very cool prize! I will do another post about it tomorrow, as it is deserving of its own "time". And, I like to keep you on your toes.
In order to enter, all you need to do is leave a comment and be sure to include your e-mail address, so that I know where to find you when you win. As always, I will not post your comments.(edited to add this, because several people have commented twice thinking their comment didn't go through. I will not be posting comments, so that I may keep your e-mail adresses private. But please remember to leave your e-mail. And don't worry, if you have commented once, You are in!) I will draw a winner out of the hat at the end of the Day on October 28th.
All I ask from you (per the suggestion of Tonya, Brent's mom), is that on Brent's birthday, would you please do an extra random act of kindness in his honor? (I say extra, cause I know y'all are all over the RAKs). But for that day, do one in Brent's honor. I just know it will make him smile big!!!
And please, feel free to post a link to this giveaway on your blog. The more people who have a chance to be blessed by his story the better. And what a gift it would be to Tonya, his mom, if we gathered as many people as possible to do a RAK in his honor on October 28th. Maybe it will bring her a little smile thinking about how his "spirit" is touching others and making a difference, on a day that is sure to be bittersweet.
When you find the time, I encourage you to visit his caringbridge journal http://caringbridge.org/ms/brentnason/. You can start at the beginning of December '06, if you don't have time to read the whole thing. You will witness God in so many of the details! Bring tissues, and prepare to be BLESSED!
Hugs~
